PixelAir 3.0 Release
The day has finally come - PixelAir 3.0 is here.
PixelAir 3.0 marks the single biggest improvement to the Fluora system to date, and another massive step forward in building a bulletproof, reliable, and dynamic lighting system and app experience.
For those who haven’t been following these updates, PixelAir is what we call the system that all of our Fluora devices run on.
This release has been a long time coming - we understand some customers have had some issues with Bluetooth pairing, WiFi connections, and app reliability over the years, and this release marks a massive step forward in improving all of these things.
If you’ve had issues with your Fluora in the past, now is the perfect time to plug it back in, update it, and enjoy an improved product experience.
What’s New in 3.0?
- Improved Reliability: Tons of improvements to bugs and edge cases to make the experience more robust.
- Faster Connections: We redesigned how Fluora handles Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It now connects to your network in seconds and holds onto that connection much more reliably.
- New Animations: Explore 5 new animations: Breeze, Shockwave, Lighthouse, EQ Pitch, and Dots EQ.
- New Scene UI: Easier-to-use UI screen for scenes, more straightforward scheduling and control.
- Improved Scheduler: We rebuilt the scheduler from the ground up. You can now select Time Zone and Day of Week.
- Re-Vamped Audio Engine: Audio animations should appear more crisp and have a higher resolution
- Streamlined Experience: Transitions between animations are now smoother, and color resolution, especially at low brightness, has been improved
- OTA Updates Improved: Updating your Fluora with the mobile app has been massively improved and now shows a progress bar.
We’ve made over 700 updates and optimizations to overhaul your Fluora experience. To read in detail about all updates, check out our releases page!
How to Update Your Fluora
To get started, make sure you have downloaded or updated to the latest version of the Fluora mobile app (v1.0.6), which is available right now.
Once your app is updated, open it up and keep an eye out for a firmware update notification pop-up.
For most users: You can perform a quick over-the-air (OTA) update directly inside the app by pressing the “Update” button.
For older firmware versions: You may see a pop-up with special instructions. This might guide you to use Recovery Mode to install the firmware from your phone, or, if your device has not been updated in a long time, direct you to use our web-based USB Flasher at firmware.fluoraplant.com/update.
Note: Please just follow the step-by-step instructions displayed in the app's update modal!
To get the latest mobile app version, follow these links:
iOS/Apple (on TestFlight)
If your device is offline, try to reconnect it to the WiFi network following the steps here. Once the device is offline, instructions on what to do next should pop up.
You can confirm your Fluora device is updated by pressing the wrench icon located in the top right of the Fluora display on the mobile app, and looking at “Firmware Version”. After a successful update, the firmware version should show 3.1.6 or higher.
Having Trouble?
Please visit the Firmware Updates section of our Wiki Page here. If you are unable to update your Fluora via the app, you can try to update with your phone via Recovery Mode. If that doesn’t work, you can update manually with a USB cable.
