Fluora as a Sensory Lamp
We’ve mentioned before that we feel Fluora has the potential to become more than a cool lamp. Along our journey, customers have reached out to us and told their story. Fluora means a lot to them, whether it’s a calming nighttime companion for someone with PTSD, or helps children feel more comfortable in “scary” places in hospitals - like where they get shots and vitals taken.
Today we're happy to share that we're seeing some early success and interest in Fluora as a sensory item.
We recently started working with 3 neurodivergent influencers from the Netflix show: Love on the Spectrum. It documents the lives of autistic cast members as they explore the dating world.
We sent them some Fluora to start. Kaelynn Partlow ended up loving the Fluora Mini so much she shared a video of it on her YouTube channel, claiming Fluora is the Best Sensory Item of the Year.
This video now has over 1.3 million views, and we've had lots of new interest from people that want to use Fluora as a sensory item. It's exciting to think about Fluora making a difference in the lives of a whole new audience.
So, we spent some time researching sensory items. A sensory item is an object, tool or toy designed to stimulate one or more of the five senses. They help regulate emotions, focus attention, provide calming stimulation, and are particularly helpful with neurodivergent people, children, or anyone seeking stress relief.
It’s a broad definition and category, and we’re yet to explore the many ways Fluora can reach its potential as a Sensory Item. Fluora in particular would engage someone’s sight, giving them something to stare at as a way to calm anxiety, reduce overstimulation, help them focus, or encourage sensory play.
Each of these new use cases have a lot of potential! We plan on working with more people who use Fluora as a Sensory Item, and trying to learn more about what they are specifically drawn to. We’ll also experiment with new lighting animations, effects and features with them, in the hopes of making Fluora an even better offering in the Sensory space, and for the rest of our customers!
