The man behind the page (and the amazing home) is Evan Cabell - an IT engineer in Houston, TX who designs interiors at night. His love for colorful, expressive decor has caught fire, and he's now at 800,000+ followers.

He's also on the bleeding edge of a new type of interior design. For most of the last decade, the default look was beige, minimal, and safe. Evan started there too - his early rooms were Japandi and minimalist, inspired by his mom's style. Then in 2025 he threw that out and went all in on color.

What he does now gets called dopamine decor - rooms built around what actually makes you feel something, rather than what photographs as tasteful. Evan's own version is what he calls contained maximalism: every room gets its own distinct color scheme and identity, so the house comes across as joyful instead of chaotic. He designs for the inner child. There's a claw machine in his living room. HGTV toured the house.

If you've ever wondered whether a color-changing plant is too much for a room, Evan's house is a pretty good argument that it isn't.
